Witch's Kitchen

Shana Lutker in conversation with Prem Krishnamurthy, Asad Raza, and Marianna Simnett
March 20, 2021

For the third event of Witch's Kitchen: Part 1, Shana talks with three of the organizers of Home Cooking: Prem Krishnamurthy, Asad Raza, and Marianna Simnett. Home Cooking is a digital artist-run space started in March 2020 featuring activities, movement, music, poetry, video, and more. In the early days of the pandemic lockdown, Home Cooking sparked from an impulse to do something, and the result was a space online where culture and art happened, across time zones and borders. One year later, the resulting archive includes contributions from over 60 artists and curators.

Hosted by Shana Lutker, the conversation with the Berlin-based organizers contemplates the beginnings, middle, and current state of the collective effort. The group discusses their collective's ethos; the transformative power of a walk through wild fennel in Algeria; the gifts of both synchronous and asynchronous conversations; the need for ethics and equity between artists and institutions; and more.
